I have been looking forward to the 2020 Holiday Season since May of this year! Between quarantines and Zoom fatigue, I’m ready to wind the year down and spend in-person time with close friends and loved ones more than ever before.  As a Realtor in Florida, it seems our Spring, Summer and Fall selling seasons have been compressed into just a few short months. With less disposable time, it’s really important to me to be efficient in everything I spend time in. I would rather have more cheer, than humbug, so I’ve gathered a few simple cocktail recipes that I can easily whip up with a few basic ingredients to keep me from wasting too much time THINKING about what to serve. Let’s face it, we spend more time thinking, stressing and planning about entertaining than we do actually entertaining.

During the quarantine, I enjoyed some of my downtime experimenting with cocktail recipes to pass the evening time.  Both my husband and I relished in the downtime (at first), and I even convinced him to join me, albeit briefly, on camera in a few videos. It was also a great way to connect with my sphere in a way that was social, while distanced, and sparked several offline conversations not only about cocktails, but about Real Estate. In my quest to start planning the perfect holiday party, in June, I stumbled upon a few simple ingredient recipes that I knew I just had to try, including the classic Peppermintini.

For the Peppermintini, pour 5 ounces of Vanilla Flavored Vodka, 2 ounces of white Crème de Menthe and half ounce of Peppermint Schnapps, and one-half ounce of Rum Chata into a shaker filled with ice and shake vigorously. Pour mixture directly into a chilled martini glass, garnished with your favorite sugar rim and a candy cane, then serve!

Another holiday favorite, as a Florida resident that enjoys warm weather all year round, I present the Tropical Holiday Mule!  This recipe calls for 3 ounces of coconut flavored rum (I prefer Parrot Bay or Bacardi), the juice of one lime and a third of a cup of cranberry juice. Shake these ingredients together in ice, and pour over ice in a highball glass, or mule mug. Add a splash of ginger beer (spicy if you’re feeling sassy) and garnish with cranberries and a mint sprig.

Finally, if you’re a fan of the earthy flavored Gin, this Mistletoe Muddle is sure to delight your senses.  In a shaker add one half ounce of honey, a splash of water, two rosemary springs and 4 raspberries then muddle well.  Add two ounces Gin, one ounce of fresh lemon juice and ice. Shake well and strain into a coup glass, garnished with rosemary.

Whether you are running about during the holiday season, or quarantined at home with your loved ones, these festive drinks will hopefully add a little more cheer to your next holiday gathering, virtual or otherwise. Cheers to the end of 2020 and the ushering in of 2021!
