RRC is proud to celebrate Juneteenth

Jun 08, 2022

As you may be aware, President Joe Biden signed a bill on June 18th, 2021 to officially make June 19th a federal holiday in an effort to support people of color in the wake of protests of systemic racism and inequality in the U.S. Juneteenth commemorates the Union troop’s arrival in Galveston, Texas, in 1865, where they began enforcing the Emancipation Proclamation that President Abraham Lincoln issued on Jan 1st, 1862. Texas was the last Confederate state forced to free enslaved people of color.

RRC is proud to announce that Juneteenth has been added as a company holiday as a commitment to the work of equity, equality, and justice. Since June 19th this year falls on a Sunday, we will observe the holiday on Monday, June 20th. We will also be including more relevant information under our Diversity & Inclusion Page regarding this new holiday, so please feel free to check it out when it becomes available. In the meantime, please inform your members and students accordingly that the office will be closed in observance of Juneteeth.
