The legalization of marijuana has increased the demand for both residential and commercial properties. This creates issues related to grow houses, property values, crime, and property management. According to a recent survey conducted by the National Association of REALTORS®(NAR), thirty-three percent (33%) of members who have sold grow houses in states where both medical and recreational marijuana is legal had difficulty selling those residential properties. This course will help clear the smoke surrounding some of these issues.
Upon the successful completion of this course, you will be able to:
- List the major issues facing the real estate industry with the state legalization of marijuana use.
- Identify the impacts and considerations of marijuana grow houses/farms, dispensaries and use on real estate.
- Recognize the legal pitfalls associated with marijuana in financing, title companies, insurance and rentals.

RRC, RRC States, and licensees reserve the right to cancel any scheduled course. If a course is cancelled, registrants will be notified via email or phone and will be given a full refund. RRC, RRC States, and licensees are not responsible for any expenses incurred by the registrant due to cancellation. Class cancellations by a participant will be accepted until one week prior to the event. Cancellations will be refunded minus a $25 administrative fee. No shows will be charged the full registration amount.
Candidates may earn CRS Designation credit only if they take the course exam and receive a passing score of 70% or better. CRS Designees seeking Designation Maintenance credit do not need to take the exam, but must sign in with the proctor.
