Online Limitations:

The Alabama Real Estate Commission requires that all online courses are completed within one year from the date of enrollment.

There is no limit to the number of CE hours that may be taken online.

Alabama Real Estate Licensees are required to take 15 continuing education hours every 24 months including 6 mandatory hours in Risk Management. 

The fifteen hours of education is as follows:

Three (3) clock hours in Risk Management – Level 1  In this level, brokers and salespersons shall take the Risk Management: Avoiding Violations course.

Three (3) clock hours in Risk Management – Level 2  In this level, all brokers shall take the Risk Management for Brokers course. Salespersons shall take the Risk Management for Salespersons course, the Risk Management for Brokers course, or an industry-specific Risk Management course approved for Level 2 credit by the Commission.

The remaining nine (9) hours of continuing education can be any approved course.

**The deadline to renew your license is August 31st but you will have until September 30th of every even year to satisfy the continuing education requirements .

NOTE: If you have an inactive license you will ONLY need 15 hours of CE to reactivate. You do NOT need CE every year but you do need to renew your license by 8/31 each year.

6 clock hours required of Core credit in Risk Management and 9 clock hours required in Commission approved courses.

POST LICENSING requirements: Must complete a 30 hour post license training course within the first twelve months of licensure in order to be issued an original (permanent) license. Further, the course must be completed and original license issued within the first six months in order to maintain an active license.

While McKissock recognizes these requirements, they do not offer post-license education. McKissock recommends Real Estate Express, their sister company for post-licensing education.
